Ninomiya and Nishikido to appear jointly in Kudokan's script
It was announced on July 22nd that Ninomiya Kazunari (25), from the popular group Arashi will play the lead of an upcoming dorama, Ryuusei no Kisuna starting in Oct this year. His co-star will be Nishikido Ryo (23) from Kanjani 8 and they will be playing siblings in the show. The dorama is based on the book by Higashino Keigo, which was a best selling Mystrey story earlier this year. The scriptwriter is Kudo Kankurou or affectionately nicknamed “Kudo Kan”.
This is a collaboration between Ninomiya, who is recognized by big name directors in the world such as Clint Eastwood and Ninagawa Yukio and Nishikido, the guy that caused a stir in Fuji TV’s dorama 'Last Friends' last season as the “DV” guy. Ninomiya plays the eldest son and Nishikido plays the younger son. Although they are both in Johnny’s jimusho, the 2 of them hardly ever speak to each other. But there is talk about going out for meals together from now on. (Bullshit, weren't you guys playing darts 2 weeks ago with Jun right after the arashi guys came back from Sapporo?!)
The original story, “Ryuusei no Kizuna” was carried as a series of stories in September 2006 in the magazine 「週刊現代」and was published as a book this year. It sold a total of 370,000 copies and became the top mystery story during the first half of the year.
The story revolves around three siblings whose parents were killed when they were young. They were put in an orphanage, and when they became adults, they all conspired to be swindlers. The sister is played by Toda Erika (19). Miura Tomowa plays the detective who holds on to the secret of the siblings.
The program’s producer, Isoyama Aki says “ It is simply not a suspense dorama about who is the criminal. It’s a heartwrentching dorama which seeks to portray the siblings love for each other and how they survive. For that reason, the cast was carefully selected and there is a lot of expectation placed on the Ninomiya/Nishikido combination.
Ninomiya, who is starring in his first mystery dorama, says “ We will create warm siblings’ ties, and endeavor to make it a piece of work that will appeal to one’s inner instincts rather than rational thought. Nishikido promises to produce a splendid performance, saying “ I will try my best to act out the role of the second brother whilst depending on my big brother, who has such an abundance of experience.”
The scriptwriter, Kudo-san, also says enthusiastically, 'I am trilled because this is a story which can be spun and twisted.'
The two yellows with acid tongues unite!!
'I will try my best to act out the role of the second brother whilst depending on my big brother, who has such an abundance of experience.” - ROFL.
Some newspapers refer to him as from K8, some as from NEWS. XD XD I wonder what is the official spin on this?
The scriptwriter is the same guy who wrote Kisarazu Cat's Eye and the author is the same guy who wrote Galileo. So I think I would expect the product to err on the quirky side. I hope it does.
Looking back at my previous entries, see? I thought they looked alike!!!

(I was dicussing this with my friend just now on msn. --- totally different topic -- If there was an award to give to the dorama character that has the most 'chao bin' (sour face) this summer, Pi wins pants hands down.) --oops freudian slip.
